Oka, a company specializing in carbon insurance, has welcomed David Antonioli to its advisory board. Antonioli will play a pivotal role as Oka expands its operations into international carbon markets.
Antonioli’s extensive experience in the carbon market will be invaluable to Oka. As former CEO of Verra, he oversaw the development and implementation of the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program and corresponding registry, which is now the largest issuer of carbon credits globally. Prior to Verra, David held various leadership positions, including director at carbon project investor and developer and Global Climate Change Advisor to the US Agency for International Development.
As the first advisor to join Oka’s Advisory Board, Antonioli will provide strategic support as Oka adapts its policy coverage to meet evolving regulatory and risk requirements. In recent months, Oka has collaborated with leading greenhouse gas (GHG) crediting programs to create an on-ramp for carbon credits.
“David has been at the forefront of the voluntary carbon market for over two decades, and his contributions to its growth have been instrumental,” said Oka Founder and CEO. “His expertise and insight are invaluable as we work with standards setting bodies, project developers, investors, and other ecosystem stakeholders to ensure global carbon markets. We are thrilled to have him on board.”
Antonioli expressed his enthusiasm for joining Oka: “Oka addresses one of the critical gaps in the voluntary carbon market. Its dedicated insurance solutions mitigate some of the crucial risks facing the market and have the potential to mobilize investment and innovation, accelerating progress towards net zero. I look forward to collaborating with the Oka team to advance these goals.”
Oka’s Corresponding Adjustment Protect and Carbon Protect insurance policies are available to eligible owners of carbon credits in authorized jurisdictions.
