OMA Invests 400 Million Euros in Monterrey International Airport Transformation

OMA, with VINCI Airports as its primary shareholder and owner of 13 airports in Mexico, has unveiled the initial phase of its 400 million euro investment initiative at Monterrey International Airport. This substantial investment is a pivotal achievement in a 5-year plan aimed at significantly expanding Mexico’s infrastructure, primarily focusing on boosting Monterrey airport’s capacity by 50%, enabling it to accommodate nearly 18 million passengers annually.

This investment underscores OMA’s unwavering dedication to upgrading and modernizing airport facilities in Nuevo León, solidifying its status as a key hub for domestic and international travel connectivity. The program, developed by OMA’s team with support from VINCI Airports, is designed to enhance the travel experience with:

– Expansion of the terminal building to accommodate increased passenger traffic
– Enhanced security measures to ensure passenger safety
– Modernization of check-in and baggage claim areas to streamline the travel process
– Introduction of new amenities and services to improve passenger comfort and convenience

Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and President of VINCI Airports, expressed his gratitude to the OMA and VINCI Airports teams for successfully completing the first stage of this major project for Monterrey airport. He emphasized VINCI Airports’ commitment to supporting the economic growth of Northern Mexico, particularly by increasing terminal capacity and improving the travel experience for passengers.

Monterrey International Airport has established itself as the key aviation hub in the northern part of the country, proudly connecting to 38 national destinations and 22 international ones, with services provided by 8 domestic and 5 international airlines. Since 2022, VINCI Airports, after acquiring a 29.99% stake in OMA, has been actively backing its substantial investment program, launched in 2021, which involves over 800 million euros dedicated to expanding and modernizing OMA’s 13 airports.
