Omni Hotels & Resorts, the official hotel partner of the PGA TOUR and PGA of America, is excited to introduce The Generation Cup, a unique tournament series celebrating golf, family, and competition. This year-long event aims to foster camaraderie among golf-loving families, prioritizing generational connections as a key requirement for participation.
In its inaugural year, The Generation Cup will host qualifiers at every Omni golf resort, totaling 12 events nationwide from May 2024 to April 2025. The tournament features three divisions: “Grandparent & Grandchild,” “Parent & Child or Aunt/Uncle & Niece/Nephew,” and “PGA Professional & Family Member.” Teams will compete in a two-person modified best ball “shamble” format, with the top gross and net teams from each division advancing to the National Championship.
“Golf has seen a surge of new interest in recent years and at Omni, we believe there is no better way to celebrate the game than playing with your loved ones,” says Spencer Cody, Corporate Director of Club and Golf for Omni Hotels & Resorts. “The Generation Cup will not only offer opportunities for competition and fun in our communities, but it will be the perfect way to showcase the world-class portfolio of golf destinations Omni encompasses.”
The series of qualifying events is scheduled to kick off at Omni Interlocken in Broomfield, Colorado, on May 24, 2024, winding up at Omni Barton Creek in Austin on April 5, 2025. Following this, the qualifying teams from each stage will convene at Omni PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas, for the National Championship in May 2025.
“At Omni, we love the game because it affords the opportunity to invest time in relationships and creates lifelong memories,” says Kurt Alexander, President of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Rarely does anyone pick up the game without the encouragement of a father, mother, grandparent, uncle, aunt, or sibling. For me, it was my dad, and The Generation Cup will provide the same opportunity for family members to come together, have some fun, and compete as a team.”
