A shooting in Maplewood Park, Rochester, New York, on Sunday evening left one person dead and at least six others injured. Police responded to a call about gunfire at a large gathering around 6:20 p.m. local time. Upon arrival, officers found numerous gunshot victims and individuals fleeing the scene.
According to reports, a volley of gunfire disrupted a large gathering within the park, causing a chaotic scene as people ran for safety. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows the incident.
Authorities confirmed that a 20-year-old individual was killed in the shooting. One other victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while five additional individuals sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
During a press briefing, Rochester Police Captain Greg Bello stated that investigators are still working to determine the number of individuals involved in the shooting. He also mentioned that they are diligently interviewing as many witnesses as possible to gather information. The incident remains under investigation.
