One Piece Season 2 Update: Netflix Adds Percy Jackson EP as Co-Showrunner

Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson co-showrunner, Joe Tracz, has joined the creative team for the Netflix live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga series, One Piece. Tracz will serve as a co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer alongside returning showrunner Matt Owens and series developer Steve Maeda.

The upcoming Season 2 of One Piece is set to adapt the Arabasta saga, which will introduce fan-favorite characters such as Tony Tony Chopper, Dr. Kureha, Captain Smoker, Princess Vivi, Nico Robin, Portgas D. Ace, Crocodile, and Bon Clay. While no casting announcements have been made for Season 2, Oscar winner Cate Blanchett previously expressed interest in playing Dr. Kureha.

The live-action One Piece series stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Peter Gadiot portrays Shanks, Morgan Davies plays Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino appears as Alvida, Aidan Scott portrays Helmeppo, Jeff Ward plays Buggy, Vincent Regan appears as Garp, and Steven Ward portrays Mihawk.

One Piece Season 2 is expected to begin filming sometime next year, with no clear release date available as of yet.
