One Za’abeel Joins DWTCA Free Zone Jurisdiction, Boosting Dubai’s Economic Agenda

In a significant move, the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) has expanded its Free Zone jurisdiction to encompass One Za’abeel, a landmark development by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD). This strategic decision, formalized under Decree No. 18 of 2024 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, promises substantial advantages for businesses operating within One Za’abeel.

The integration of One Za’abeel into the DWTCA Free Zone provides companies with numerous benefits. Strategically located at the heart of Dubai’s bustling business districts, One Za’abeel offers easy access to key commercial hubs. Its robust digital infrastructure and commitment to sustainability establish it as a hub for enterprise and prosperity.

One Za’abeel The Offices provides 26,000 sqm (280,000 sq ft) of Grade-A office space, featuring LEED Gold and WiredScore Platinum certifications. This commitment to high standards of technology, connectivity, and sustainability makes it an ideal location for businesses focused on innovation and growth.

The development’s retail Podium, set to open later this year, will feature a mix of international and local brands, providing a comprehensive shopping and dining experience. The amenities include access to retail, dining, and hospitality services, enhancing the overall tenant experience.

Abdalla Al Banna, VP of Free Zone Regulatory Operations at Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, highlighted the role of the expanded Free Zone in supporting Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33. By attracting global companies, innovators, and entrepreneurs, the Free Zone aims to accelerate the city’s economic goals and reinforce its status as a leading hub for commerce and enterprise.

Complementing this expansion, Dubai World Trade Centre Authority has introduced a new Home Business Package for residents of Expo Village, located at Expo City Dubai. This offering is designed to meet the needs of Dubai’s expanding entrepreneurial community, enabling first-time business owners, start-ups, and SMEs to operate from home without renting separate office space. The package includes a DWTC Free Zone company license and employee visas based on a residential lease.

The Home Business Package caters to the growing trend of flexible working models, providing a versatile approach to business setup and company formation. Expo Village, with its modern community living and robust transport infrastructure, is an ideal base for fostering the next-generation ecosystem of hybrid work and work-from-home culture.

The integration of One Za’abeel into the DWTCA Free Zone marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s journey toward economic growth and innovation. This expansion, coupled with new initiatives like the Home Business Package and a robust events calendar, underscores Dubai’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and thriving business environment. As DWTC continues to drive substantial economic impact and attract global participants, Dubai’s status as a leading destination for business and tourism is set to soar to new heights.
