The anticipation for OnePlus’s next flagship, the OnePlus 13, is building as leaks continue to surface, revealing exciting details about its design and specs. While OnePlus has confirmed its next-generation software overhaul based on Android 15, the company has kept the details of the OnePlus 13 tightly guarded – until now.
An image purportedly depicting the OnePlus 13 has emerged on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. This leak comes from the reliable source, Digital Chat Station, adding credibility to the claims. The design seems to draw inspiration from its predecessor, the OnePlus 12, with a familiar camera island at the back. However, the OnePlus 13 introduces a subtle but impactful change: a small metallic line connecting the camera hump to the right edge of the frame. Above this line sits a minimalist “H” logo, a clear indication that Hasselblad camera tuning will once again grace the OnePlus 13.
One of the most noticeable departures from previous OnePlus flagships is the adoption of flat metallic sides, a design choice mirroring the aesthetics of Samsung and Apple. This departure from the curved metallic frames of past generations might raise eyebrows, as the curved design was widely appreciated for its comfortable grip.
However, what sets the OnePlus 13 apart is its unique rear shell texture, reportedly inspired by the natural textures of rocks and minerals. This intriguing design element, coupled with a matte finish, promises a visually appealing and tactile experience, likely building upon the popular surface finish of the OnePlus 12. OnePlus has previously hinted at its exploration of incorporating natural materials like marble into its phone designs, and the OnePlus 13 seems to be a testament to this commitment.
In addition to the anticipated black color option, the OnePlus 13 is rumored to be available in a pearl-white color variant, reminiscent of the OnePlus 12’s color scheme. The pearl-white option was so well-received that Tushar Mehta, a colleague, dubbed it the “Elvis Presley of Android Phones.”
Looking beyond the aesthetics, the OnePlus 13 is expected to pack a powerful punch with a triple-camera system at the back, powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 silicon. The device is also rumored to feature a unique localized refresh rate technology for the screen, a larger battery capacity, and AI-powered enhancements to the OxygenOS software experience. While these advancements are promising, it seems that OnePlus is planning a price increase to accompany these new features and upgrades.
The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch in the Chinese market towards the end of October, with a global rollout scheduled for a few weeks later. As we await the official unveiling, the leaks continue to paint a picture of a flagship phone poised to make waves in the smartphone landscape.
