Onitsuka Tiger Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Tokyo and Paris Events

Onitsuka Tiger, the iconic Japanese sportswear brand, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with special events in Tokyo and Paris. The festivities kick off in Tokyo from August 9th to 25th, offering a retrospective look at the brand’s journey and a glimpse into its future.

The Tokyo event, held at the Omotesando Hills, features an impressive exhibition of 75 archival shoes, highlighting key models that have shaped the brand’s history and propelled its global success. Visitors can also immerse themselves in a world of art inspired by Onitsuka Tiger, including a showcase of never-before-seen pieces. A captivating short film crafted using advanced CG, XR technology, and motion capture takes viewers on a virtual journey through Onitsuka Tiger stores around the world. The event will also unveil the brand’s latest collection and offer a sneak peek at new models slated for release in 2025.

Adding to the excitement, a special pre-opening event on August 8th welcomed notable guests, including South Korean actor Choi Jin-hyuk and popular Malaysian cosplayer Hachi-ken.

On the other side of the world, Onitsuka Tiger is setting up a pop-up hotel in Paris, dubbed “Hôtel ONITSUKA TIGER,” at the site of the brand’s future flagship store on the Champs-Élysées. The hotel, open from July 22nd to August 17th, promises a captivating blend of art, fashion, and culture. Along with archive shoe displays and installations, visitors can enjoy unique artistic collaborations. Renowned pianist Yuja Wang, Michelin-starred chef Yoshiji Tokugi, singer-songwriter/flutist/multi-musician Maïa Barouh, and young artist Yutaro Inagaki will each present their artistic works during the event.

Adding a touch of Japanese culinary experience, the Tokyo event features a pop-up “YELLOW TIGER CAFÉ” during the event.

With two distinct events spanning continents, Onitsuka Tiger invites fans and enthusiasts to celebrate its rich history and exciting future. Both events are free of charge, but registration is required.
