Fans of the hit Hulu comedy ‘Only Murders in the Building’ can rejoice! The series, starring Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short, has been renewed for a fifth season, which will consist of 10 episodes. The news was announced in a video posted to the show’s official Instagram account, with Martin expressing the cast’s excitement about returning for another season.
The renewal comes just a week after the premiere of season 4. This season sees the trio, Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Mabel Mora (Gomez), venture to Hollywood to oversee the film adaptation of their podcast. They encounter the actors who will portray them in the movie, including Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria. This Hollywood escapade serves as a necessary distraction from the shocking death of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) in the season 3 finale. The trio investigates further, discovering that Charles might have been the intended target of the attack, not Sazz.
Season 4 boasts a stellar cast, with returning favorites like Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Meryl Streep, and Michael Cyril Creighton, as well as a collection of notable guest stars including Molly Shannon, Richard Kind, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melissa McCarthy.
Since its debut in August 2021, ‘Only Murders in the Building’ has garnered critical acclaim and a significant following. The series has earned 49 Emmy Award nominations, including nods for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress for Gomez, and Outstanding Lead Actor for Martin and Short. The first two episodes of season 4 are already available on Hulu, with new episodes dropping weekly on Tuesdays. The season finale is scheduled for October 8, 2024.
