The highly anticipated fourth season of Hulu’s hit comedy-mystery series, ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ is set to premiere on August 27th, and the latest trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the new chapter.
This time, the podcasting trio of Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) are leaving their familiar stomping grounds in New York City behind for the bright lights of Hollywood. They are tasked with overseeing the film adaptation of their popular podcast, which is sure to lead to a whole new set of challenges and comedic mishaps.
The trailer introduces us to the onscreen counterparts of our beloved trio, with Eugene Levy portraying Charles, Zach Galifianakis taking on Oliver, and Eva Longoria stepping into Mabel’s shoes. However, even as the film production ramps up, the podcasters find themselves drawn into a new murder mystery.
The victim this time is Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), Charles’ friend and former stunt double who met an untimely end at the end of season 3. As they begin their investigation, the trio soon realizes that Charles, not Sazz, might have been the real target. The stakes are raised even higher when the acting trio believes they can solve the case without the podcasters’ help, leading to some contentious moments.
Returning to the cast for season 4 are Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Donna Williams, Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard Morris, and Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin. The show is known for its star-studded guest appearances, and season 4 doesn’t disappoint. In addition to Levy, Galifianakis, and Longoria, the season boasts an impressive lineup including Molly Shannon, Richard Kind, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melissa McCarthy.
Created by Martin and John Hoffman, ‘Only Murders in the Building’ has garnered critical acclaim since its debut in August 2021. The first three seasons have received numerous Emmy nominations, including nods for Outstanding Comedy Series and acting honors for Martin, Short, and Gomez. With a fresh new setting, a captivating new mystery, and a stellar cast, season 4 is poised to continue the show’s winning streak. Get ready for a thrilling ride as the podcasting trio tackles Hollywood’s dark underbelly, one episode at a time.
