Ontario International Airport (ONT) continues its ascent as a leading travel hub, solidifying its position as a top choice for travelers in North America. According to the 2024 J.D. Power North American Airport Satisfaction Survey, ONT has earned a coveted spot as the most reliable airport among its mid-sized counterparts. This recognition reflects the airport’s dedication to providing an exceptional passenger experience.
ONT’s remarkable performance is further highlighted by its impressive ranking. It secured fourth place for overall satisfaction among mid-sized airports and second place among all California airports, regardless of size. This achievement underscores ONT’s commitment to providing a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for its passengers. In the overall North American ranking, ONT achieved an impressive eighth position, further solidifying its reputation for excellence.
ONT’s success can be attributed to its exceptional performance in key areas, including trustworthiness, ease of travel, and arrival experience. The airport earned the highest trust score among mid-sized airports, reinforcing its reputation for reliability and commitment to passenger safety. These rankings are a testament to the dedication of ONT’s staff, who consistently strive to provide a positive and memorable travel experience.
“This is a testament to the hard work of our CEO and our incredible staff of airport professionals who strive each day to deliver exceptional service. Our goal is simply to make ONT the airport of choice for travelers in Southern California,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) Board of Commissioners.
CEO Atif Elkadi echoed Wapner’s sentiments, expressing his pride in ONT’s achievement: “We are elated that ONT is recognized among air travelers as a top airport in North America, an honor which I believe is richly deserved as we strive to deliver world-class facilities, amenities and a passenger experience unlike any other.”
The J.D. Power rankings are based on feedback collected from over 26,000 U.S. and Canadian travelers who recently passed through North American airports. The survey assesses both departure and arrival experiences, including connections, over the past 30 days. Passengers rated their satisfaction based on either their departing or arriving airport as part of their round-trip journey.
This positive recognition aligns with ONT’s remarkable growth trajectory. The airport has achieved an impressive 42 consecutive months of year-over-year passenger growth. ONT is poised to surpass 7 million passengers this year, a significant milestone marking a 75% increase since returning to local control in 2016.
ONT’s commitment to excellence extends beyond passenger satisfaction. The airport also ranks among the Top 10 cargo airports in the U.S., further emphasizing its significant role in regional and national commerce. This impressive achievement reaffirms ONT’s status as a major transportation hub in the Southern California region and beyond.
