Onvo Opens New Travel Plaza in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Featuring Made-to-Order Food and EV Charging

Onvo, a renowned travel plaza and truckstop chain, has officially opened its latest location in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The grand opening took place on Tuesday, October 23, 2024, marking a significant expansion for the Scranton-based company. This new plaza introduces Onvo’s highly anticipated made-to-order food service, aptly named ‘Food on the Fly,’ offering travelers a fresh and exciting dining experience.

A highlight of the new food program is the signature Craverito, a delectable burrito option. But that’s not all. Guests can also enjoy a variety of fresh and customizable meal choices, including bowls and quesadillas, all crafted with an emphasis on quality and freshness. To complement the new food offerings, Onvo is also introducing a selection of handcrafted coffee, espresso, and lattes, perfect for those seeking a caffeine boost on the road.

The grand opening event showcased a unique twist on the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. Instead, Onvo opted for a burrito-cutting ceremony, highlighting their signature food item and setting the stage for the plaza’s new culinary focus. Attendees were treated to complimentary menu items, including hot pizza and snacks from the grab-and-go section, as well as coffee tastings from Onvo’s new handcrafted coffee line. The celebration served as a fantastic opportunity for guests to sample the fresh and convenient options available at the plaza.

The new Pottsville plaza is designed to provide travelers with a comprehensive range of services. It features 36 parking spots for trucks, with plans to expand to 116 spots in the near future. The plaza also boasts 10 fueling lanes for gasoline, six high-flow diesel pumps, and four fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) stations. These EV charging stations were installed under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, and are expected to become operational by 2025.

In addition to its extensive amenities, the Pottsville plaza will soon offer even more convenience. Onvo plans to open its first hotel in the area, located at the plaza, in 2025. Furthermore, the company is introducing its inaugural dog park, aptly named the ‘Barking Lot,’ providing a dedicated space for pets to enjoy during stops.

Onvo’s journey began in 1988 when Sonny Singh and Andy Aulakh established Liberty Travel Plazas in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. Since then, the company has grown into a prominent hospitality company catering to travelers’ needs across northeastern and central Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Today, Onvo operates a diverse network of businesses, including 40 travel plazas, gas stations, and petroleum distribution services. The company also manages 24 quick-service and full-service restaurants, as well as six hotels, providing a range of amenities for motorists on the go.

The new Pottsville plaza is a testament to Onvo’s commitment to providing travelers with convenient and high-quality amenities, including food, fuel, and rest. With its emphasis on innovation and customer satisfaction, Onvo continues to solidify its position as a leader in the hospitality industry, catering to the needs of travelers and locals alike.
