The announcement came during a conversation with former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, where Ellison expressed Oracle’s excitement about the move and the enthusiasm of its employees. The company’s decision to relocate follows its previous headquarters shift from Silicon Valley to Austin, Texas, in 2020.
Oracle’s entry into the healthcare realm has been solidified by its significant acquisition of Cerner, a medical records software giant, for $28 billion. Ellison emphasized Oracle’s commitment to leveraging its expertise to address pressing issues in healthcare. He believes the company has a responsibility to contribute to solving problems in the industry.
Nashville has emerged as a leading hub for healthcare over several decades, boasting a vibrant network of healthcare systems, innovative startups, and investment firms. The city’s status as a healthcare destination was solidified with the founding of HCA Healthcare, one of the pioneering for-profit hospital companies in the United States, in 1968. HCA’s presence has attracted a vast pool of healthcare professionals to Nashville, attracting other organizations to the region.
Oracle has invested in developing a new $1.2 billion campus in Nashville over the past three years.
