In the South Coast League finals at Capistrano Valley and the Freeway League finals at Troy, all of Orange County’s leagues will hold their championship meets on Thursday and Friday. Among the swimmers to watch is Teagan O’Dell, a junior from Santa Margarita who has committed to Cal. O’Dell qualified first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.02) and 100 backstroke (51.71) at the Trinity League prelims, setting Trinity League records in both events. Her teammate, Gracyn Aquino, has also emerged as a top female sprinter, qualifying first in the 50 (22.99) and 100 (51.25) freestyles. Andrew Maksymowski, a sophomore from Northwood, is a rising star in the 200 and 500 freestyles, leading the county in both events. However, he will switch it up at the Pacific Coast League finals, racing the 50 and 100 freestyles instead. Jacob Wang, a senior from Woodbridge, is aiming to break the 20-second barrier in the 50 freestyle at the Pacific Coast League finals. He has the fastest entry time in the county for the prelims at 20.58.
