OTTplay Joins ONDC Network: Democratizing Access to Digital Entertainment

As a product of HT Media Labs, one of India’s fastest-growing brands, OTTplay has established itself as a market disruptor with its innovative range of products. The company’s integration with ONDC aligns perfectly with its mission to push the boundaries of innovation in the entertainment industry and make OTT platforms accessible to all. By joining the ONDC Network, OTTplay’s catalog for gift card offerings will be discoverable on all apps that consumers are shopping from across the rapidly expanding network. This move will enable OTTplay to expand its customer base significantly, reaching consumers from all ONDC seller apps and making its products widely accessible across the country.

Through this integration, OTTplay’s subscription packs will be available on the ONDC Network in the form of gift cards, equivalent to the price of the pack. These gift cards can then be used to purchase the respective OTT pack. Packs starting at ₹ 249/month (Jhakaas, Simply South and Totally Sorted) will be made accessible to a larger number of buyers through ONDC’s extensive distribution network, furthering OTTplay’s mission of making India a leading hub for digital entertainment.

This move by OTTplay reflects HT Labs’ commitment to finding innovative solutions to everyday problems. Their portfolio includes other products like Slurrp, a recipe discovery platform that aids in finding recipes based on preferences, offering features like a meal planner, community for foodies, and offline culinary food walks.

The ONDC, a network of 99 apps, including 24 buyer apps and 75 seller apps, is a game-changer in the digital commerce landscape. Shoppers can select from one of the 24 buyer apps to purchase desired products based on the categories enabled by those apps. Similarly, sellers can choose from one of the 75 seller apps to be listed on the Network.

Incorporated on 31st December 2021, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is a Section 8 company, an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Its mission is to create a facilitative model that revolutionizes digital commerce, boosting the penetration of retail e-commerce in India. ONDC is not an application, platform, intermediary, or software but a set of specifications designed to foster open, unbundled, and interoperable open networks.
