Overwatch 2 Season 12 is here, bringing with it a host of new content for players to enjoy. The highlight of the season is undoubtedly the introduction of Juno, a fresh and exciting support hero. Juno, a space cadet, is equipped with a burst-fire primary weapon called the Mediblaster, capable of both healing allies and damaging enemies. Her secondary weapon, Pulsar Torpedoes, adds another layer of strategic gameplay, locking onto both allies and enemies for healing and damage respectively.
Juno’s mobility is a standout feature. Her Martial Overboots passive ability grants her a double jump and the ability to hover in the air, allowing her to traverse the battlefield with agility. This complements her Glide Boost ability, enabling her to effortlessly glide horizontally, making her a formidable force on the map. Her Hyper Ring ability allows for rapid team movements, boosting speed and accelerating engagements.
Juno’s ultimate, Orbital Ray, is a powerful tool that can drastically shift the tide of battle. This ultimate unleashes a devastating laser beam from a spacecraft orbiting Earth, healing allies and boosting their damage output. However, the beam does not inflict damage on enemies, making it a strategic choice for situations where team support and damage amplification are paramount.
Season 12 also sees the introduction of a brand new game mode, Clash. This mode features five capture objectives arranged linearly on a mirrored map, with only one objective active at a time. The match begins with Objective C, the central objective. To capture an objective, players must stand on it until it is secured. Each captured objective awards a point to the capturing team. The first team to reach 5 points by capturing objectives or by pushing into enemy territory and fully capturing the final objective wins the match.
Blizzard conducted trials for Clash earlier this year, and the final capture points for each team (A and E) are designed to be even more rewarding, offering 3 points broken down into segments during the capture process. Clash is available in both Quick Play and Competitive Play modes, and to ensure players have ample opportunities to experience the new mode, there will be a temporary increase in its frequency.
To complement the new gameplay, Season 12 introduces two exciting new maps: Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis. These maps provide fresh battlegrounds for players to engage in exciting and strategic encounters, adding further depth to the Overwatch 2 experience.
