Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has welcomed a diverse group of artists to its ranks, including music icons Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, and Ozzy Osbourne.

These legendary acts have pushed musical boundaries and left an indelible mark on the industry. Mary J. Blige, known as the ‘Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,’ has sold over 50 million records worldwide and won nine Grammy Awards. Cher, a multi-talented entertainer, has achieved success in music, film, and television, with an illustrious career spanning six decades.

Foreigner, with their timeless hits like ‘Urgent’ and ‘Hot Blooded,’ joins the hall for the first time this year. A Tribe Called Quest, pioneers of alternative hip-hop, and Kool & The Gang, known for their infectious dance anthems, also make their debut on the hallowed list.

Ozzy Osbourne, the ‘Prince of Darkness,’ enters as a solo artist after previously being inducted with Black Sabbath. His heavy metal legacy continues to captivate audiences.

The induction ceremony will be held on October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, and will be streamed live on Disney+ and broadcast on ABC.

In addition to the main inductees, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame also recognized several other artists with special awards. Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton were honored with the Musical Influence Award, while Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield received the Musical Excellence Award. Suzanne de Passe was presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for her pioneering work as a music executive.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction is a testament to the enduring power of music and its ability to transcend generations and inspire countless artists.
