Pacific Hospitality Group Breaks Ground on Luxury Meritage Hotel in Downtown Phoenix

Downtown Phoenix is set to welcome a new jewel in its hospitality crown as Pacific Hospitality Group (PHG) breaks ground on its latest independent lifestyle hotel under the Meritage Collection. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 3, 2024, at the corner of Central and Adams, marking the beginning of a journey that will see this four-star, four-diamond property rise to prominence in the heart of the city.

Scheduled to open its doors in Fall 2026, the 236-room hotel will be a testament to luxurious living and sophisticated design. Built by Mortenson and envisioned by renowned architects Gensler, the hotel promises an unparalleled guest experience. Beyond the stunning accommodations, guests will have access to an array of amenities designed to elevate their stay. This includes 23,000 square feet of premium meeting and event space perfect for hosting conferences, weddings, or corporate gatherings. A sophisticated full-service restaurant and bar will cater to discerning palates, while a rooftop bar and pool deck on the 17th floor will offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline. The hotel will also feature a luxurious spa open to both guests and locals, providing a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. A state-of-the-art fitness center and a high-end cafe complete the picture, ensuring that every need is met within the hotel’s walls.

The project has garnered significant support from industry leaders. Garrett Busch, President of Pacific Hospitality Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This groundbreaking marks a significant milestone for the Meritage Collection as we introduce our first urban hotel in Phoenix.” He emphasized the hotel’s commitment to delivering a distinct blend of luxury, lifestyle, and locally inspired experiences. Darryl Berger, Founder and CEO of Berger Holdings, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the hotel’s strategic location at Central and Adams, a prime spot in downtown Phoenix. “Our commitment is to bring the best-in-class hotel experience to the city,” Berger stated, “and we believe this development will do just that and more.”

John Graham, Managing Partner of JWG Investments, echoed the excitement surrounding the project, stating, “As partners in this development, we see tremendous potential in creating a unique, high-end lifestyle destination that elevates the hospitality offerings in downtown Phoenix.” He emphasized the hotel’s role in fostering connections and celebrating the spirit of Phoenix. Pouya Honari, Head of Investments at Pacific Hospitality Group, further highlighted the project’s significance as an Opportunity Zone-qualified investment, showcasing its support for the ongoing revitalization of downtown Phoenix. He expressed unwavering confidence in the city’s future, emphasizing the group’s commitment to being a part of its dynamic growth.

Financial backing for the development comes from First International Bank and Trust, solidifying the project’s financial strength. The hotel’s interior design will be spearheaded by the acclaimed Style Haus and Wild Muse firms, who will infuse the spaces with modern, luxurious touches inspired by Arizona’s desert landscape—sun, sand, and wind. With its world-class meeting spaces, exquisite spa, unparalleled guest accommodations, and stunning rooftop pool deck, the new Meritage Collection hotel is poised to become downtown Phoenix’s premier hotel, a beacon of luxury and style that will attract both discerning travelers and local residents alike.
