On April 22nd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred the prestigious Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honors in India, upon Folk Artist Drona Bhuyan for his outstanding contributions to Arts.
The Padma Awards are presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. These awards recognize extraordinary achievements in fields such as art, social work, science, and engineering.
Padma Vibhushan is the highest honor, recognizing exceptional and distinguished service. Padma Bhushan is awarded for distinguished service of high order, while Padma Shri acknowledges distinguished service in any field.
