The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism is on a mission to solidify Pafos as a year-round holiday destination, and they’re starting with Poland. From October 14th to 18th, 2024, the board will be participating in a series of B2B workshops across three major Polish cities: Gdansk, Warsaw, and Wroclaw. This marks their second major outreach effort this year, focused on strengthening relationships with commercial partners and travel agents in the Polish market.
The Polish market has become increasingly important for Pafos, thanks in large part to the surge in Ryanair flights to Paphos. By August 2024, over 225,000 Polish travelers had visited Cyprus, representing a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Pafos has captured a significant portion of this growth, attracting approximately 49% of the Polish visitors.
The air connectivity between Pafos and Poland is booming. This year, the region is experiencing the highest number of inbound flights from Poland in over 30 years, with around 18 flights per week from seven Polish airports currently in operation. Looking ahead to the upcoming winter season (2024-2025), the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism anticipates maintaining a robust schedule with approximately 16 flights per week.
These workshops and exhibitions are just one piece of a larger strategy to attract visitors year-round. The initiative involves a collaborative effort between local tourism organizations, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and Hermes airports. This strategic partnership aims to further enhance tourism development and attract visitors throughout the year. By showcasing Pafos’ unique offerings and the ease of travel from Poland, they’re confident in solidifying the region as a top travel destination.
