Pakistan, Iran Vow to Boost Coordination Against Terrorism

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir met with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional peace, stability, and border security.

Both sides agreed on the need for improved coordination between Pakistan and Iran to prevent terrorists from undermining the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries. They also highlighted the importance of bolstering bilateral cooperation to achieve regional stability and economic prosperity.

President Raisi emphasized the role of cooperation between the two armed forces in promoting peace and stability for both nations and the region. He is currently on a three-day official visit to Pakistan, becoming the first foreign leader to visit the country after the February 8 polls.

During his visit, Raisi will also travel to Lahore and Karachi, where he is scheduled to meet with senior officials and visit the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

Provincial authorities are on high alert due to the high-profile visit, and a public holiday has been declared in Karachi and Lahore today.
