Sajid Tarar, a Pakistani-American businessman from Baltimore, has praised India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, suggesting that Pakistan could benefit from a similar approach. Tarar, who aligns with the Republican Party and founded American Muslims for Donald Trump, believes that Modi’s emphasis on nationalism has positively impacted Indians both in India and abroad, particularly in the United States. He pointed to the success of Indian tech entrepreneurs in the US as a prime example of India’s growing influence.
Tarar highlighted the success of Indian institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as a result of India’s commitment to education. He argued that Pakistan should prioritize education with a long-term vision to achieve similar success. He believes that India’s rise is a testament to the power of education and a strong national identity.
Tarar’s remarks come after Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, declined to congratulate Modi on his re-election as India’s Prime Minister for a third term. Instead, Baloch emphasized the need for cooperative relations with neighboring countries and advocated for constructive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute.
While Pakistan refrained from congratulating Modi, Tarar’s statement underscores the growing recognition of India’s achievements under Modi’s leadership. He believes that Pakistan should learn from India’s example and implement similar policies to foster economic growth and international influence.
