Pant Surpasses Kohli in ICC Test Batting Rankings, Jaiswal Remains India’s Top Performer

In a significant shift in the ICC Test batting rankings, Rishabh Pant has overtaken his Indian teammate Virat Kohli to claim the sixth spot. Pant’s dynamic 99 in the second innings of the opening Test against New Zealand earned him a three-spot jump in the rankings. Kohli, who scored a fluent 70 in Bengaluru, slipped one position to eighth.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to be India’s highest-ranked batter, holding steady at number four. India captain Rohit Sharma, however, experienced a dip, dropping two places to be joint 15th alongside Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne.

Meanwhile, England’s Joe Root remains firmly at the top of the charts, showcasing his unwavering dominance in Test cricket.

On the bowling front, New Zealand’s Matt Henry emerged as a major winner, climbing two spots to ninth with a new career-high rating. His exceptional eight-wicket haul during the Black Caps’ historic eight-wicket victory over India in Bengaluru proved instrumental in his rise. Teammate Will O’Rourke also benefitted from the match, gaining two spots to 39th for his impressive seven wickets.

Pakistan’s Noman Ali, after a stellar performance against England, re-entered the rankings at 17th, claiming 11 wickets across two innings. His teammate Sajid Khan witnessed a significant jump of 22 places to 50th, earning Player of the Match honors in the same series.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin maintain their positions at the top of the bowlers’ rankings. Ravindra Jadeja, another Indian star, holds onto the seventh spot, showcasing the strength of Indian bowling in the Test format.
