Paradores and Civitatis Renew Partnership to Promote Sustainable Tourism in Spain

Paradores, Spain’s publicly owned hotel chain with almost a century of history, has renewed its partnership with Civitatis, a leading technology platform specializing in Spanish-language tours, activities, day trips, and excursions globally for both B2C and B2B markets. This agreement allows Paradores’ customers to access thousands of Civitatis’ offerings across Spain.

A focal point of their collaboration is the promotion of sustainable tourism in Spain’s sparsely populated areas, aiming to boost economic and social growth in these regions. In 2023, Spain welcomed 85 million international tourists, with 90% visiting just six regions (Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Valencia, and Madrid). In contrast, other significant areas, especially in northern Spain and inland provincial capitals, received less attention.

The partnership between Civitatis and Paradores is crucial in attracting tourists to these lesser-known destinations, fostering sustainable and responsible tourism that supports local revitalization.

The continuation of this collaboration depends on enhancements such as improving the Civitatis booking process and optimizing their tour and activity catalog.

This renewal comes at a pivotal time for Spanish tourism. According to the latest Braintrust Tourism Barometer, Spain is poised to set a new record by hosting nearly 91 million international visitors, who are expected to spend around 125 billion euros.

Alberto Gutiérrez, CEO and founder of Civitatis, highlighted: “For Civitatis, it is a great honor to continue working together with Paradores to offer the best tourist experiences in Spain to their customers. This renewal allows us to continue offering travelers the opportunity to immerse themselves even more in the history, culture, and beauty of this wonderful country thanks to our extensive and selected catalog of activities and guided tours”.

According to Raquel Sánchez, president of Paradores, “The renewal of this agreement with Civitatis helps our customers turn their trip into an experience, delving deeper into the destinations they visit when they stay in our network. For Paradores, it is important to promote collaborations like this, which help boost local economies and complement and enrich our offer while also helping to raise awareness of the cultural, social, and heritage wealth of many territories where we are present”.
