Parents Prioritize Soft Skills to Prepare Kids for Future Careers

Technology is advancing rapidly, creating new and unforeseen job opportunities. To prepare their children for these future careers, parents are prioritizing the teaching of soft skills, which are transferable and valuable in any job role.
A recent study found that only 29% of parents listed hard skills like math and data analysis as key skills, while 38% prioritized resilience, adaptability, and interpersonal skills. This focus on soft skills reflects the uncertainty of future job requirements and the need for children to be able to manage their lives both professionally and personally.
Caroline Wright, Director of Early Childhood at the organization that conducted the study, emphasized the importance of a holistic educational approach that supports children’s emotional and social development. By teaching children soft skills and fostering their well-being, parents can help them feel secure and open to learning, no matter what career path they choose in the future.
