The Nathan Hale Park retention basin project in Parma Heights, Ohio, has finally been completed after five years of planning and construction. The project was designed to alleviate flooding in the area and has been met with a sense of relief by the community.
“It’s a huge sense of relief and accomplishment to finally get the basin constructed and finished,” said Parma Heights Mayor Marie Gallo.
The retention basin is located on Pearl Road between West 130th Street and West 132nd Street. The project was funded by a $5 million grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a $2 million loan from the Ohio Water Development Authority. The city of Parma Heights also contributed $1 million to the project.
