Passenger Caught Making ‘Khaini’ on Private Jet Sparks Outrage Online

A video showcasing a passenger preparing to use tobacco (khaini) before boarding a private jet has ignited a storm of reactions on social media. The amusing clip, shared two days ago, has garnered over 93.32 lakh views and over 45 thousand likes. The post’s caption, stating “A well-maintained private jet has been turned into an auto,” has left the internet in splits.

The video captures the man, carrying a satchel bag, at the charter flight’s entrance, rubbing his hands to prepare his tobacco as he enters the aircraft. Meanwhile, IndiGo’s security staff appears to stare in disbelief.

The video quickly sparked heated discussions, with many taking to the comments section to share their opinions. While some users criticized the passenger’s actions, others found the video hilarious, prompting a wave of humorous replies. One user remarked, “I think this thing is taken away at the security check.” Another user shared their own experience, stating, “Earlier this month, a middle-aged couple boarding a Goa flight, who shared seats in my row, were eating Rajnigandha on board. The smell was overwhelming. In fact, a few others in their group were also eating the same on the flight.”

Adding to the debate, a fourth user tagged IndiGo Airlines and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), bringing the matter to their attention and commenting, “ATR not Private Jet, it’s @IndiGo6E, all tobacco products are not allowed on plane , god knows what the ground staff were doing!! @DGCAIndia.

While the video has generated much amusement and criticism, it’s important to note that, according to Transport Security Administration (TSA) rules, passengers are allowed to carry cigarettes and various tobacco products, including loose tobacco, chewing tobacco, betel leaf tobacco or gutka, and pipe tobacco on a flight. There is no restriction on the quantity of these items, which can be kept in pockets, carry-on luggage, or checked bags without being confiscated.

However, it’s crucial to remember that while carrying these items is allowed, consuming or using them inside an aircraft is strictly prohibited. In 2018, Tata-Singapore Airlines JV Vistara became the first Indian airline to implement a complete ban on tobacco consumption on board its flights.

The viral video serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to airline regulations regarding tobacco use on board flights. It also underscores the growing debate surrounding the enforcement of these regulations and the need for clear guidelines and stricter measures to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
