Tillman and his brother were assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion, which is one of the most elite fighting forces in the U.S. Army. Tillman and his brother deployed to Afghanistan in January 2004. On April 22, 2004, Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident.
