The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the Tourism Seasonality Summit (TSS) have announced a strategic partnership focused on tackling the challenges of tourism seasonality across the Asia Pacific region. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at the PATA Travel Mart 2024, marks a significant step towards addressing a pressing issue within the tourism industry.
The MOU was signed by World Tourism Seasonality Summit CEO Ged Brown and PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid during the PATA Knowledge Forum on August 27th. PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “PATA is delighted to solidify our relationship with Tourism Seasonality Summit and address one of the most pressing challenges in our industry.” He further emphasized the alignment of this collaboration with PATA’s mission to foster sustainable growth and enhance the quality of travel and tourism through collaboration between private and public sector members.
The partnership aims to develop effective strategies for managing and mitigating the impacts of tourism seasonality, which often results in over-tourism during peak seasons. Both organizations are committed to safeguarding and enriching tourism experiences for both present and future generations of travelers, as well as for the host communities.
Ged Brown, CEO of the World Tourism Seasonality Summit, highlighted the Summit’s unique focus on resolving seasonality issues affecting tourism destinations, airports, and airlines. Recognizing Asia’s leading role in future tourism growth, he expressed delight at partnering with PATA, Asia’s most influential travel industry community. He extended an invitation to PATA members to attend the inaugural event at Routes World in Bahrain on October 8th and future events in 2025.
This partnership promises mutual benefits, including heightened brand recognition and speaking opportunities at each organization’s respective events. Through this collaboration, PATA and TSS demonstrate their commitment to creating a more sustainable and balanced tourism landscape across the Asia Pacific region.
