The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) hosted the PATA Annual Summit 2024 (PAS 2024) at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort in Macau, China, with the support of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and co-host SJM Resorts, S.A. The three-day summit, held from May 15-17, brought together over 450 delegates from almost 200 organizations spanning 29 destinations to explore the theme of ‘Reimagining Tourism.’
PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid expressed gratitude to the host, co-host, partners, sponsors, and delegates for their contributions to the summit’s success. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing shared goals within the travel and tourism community.
The summit featured a comprehensive program, including PATA internal meetings, a conference, the PATA Youth Symposium, and a destination experience program. The conference sessions covered various topics related to the theme of ‘Reimagining Tourism,’ such as the state of the world economy, marketing and branding in Asia Pacific tourism, future-proofing travel and tourism policies, key travel and tourism trends, and the future of the tourism workforce.
Breakout sessions focused on specific areas such as travel technology, educational tourism, night-time economy, and the future of travel agents in the age of AI. PATA also signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Federation (EATOF) to reinforce its commitment to responsible tourism.
The summit showcased the Association’s latest initiatives, including the launch of the PATA Kind Hearts initiative, which emphasizes the positive impact of tourism on local communities. Delegates were encouraged to donate children’s books to libraries in Macau.
The PATA Annual Summit 2024 provided a platform for industry experts and delegates to share insights, network, and collaborate on shaping the future of tourism in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
