Patanjali Foods Ltd., a leading edible oils company, announced on Friday that it is evaluating a proposal to acquire the non-food business of its promoter group, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. The acquisition, if approved, would expand Patanjali Foods’ product portfolio and enhance synergies with Patanjali Ayurved’s non-food brands.
According to sources, Patanjali Foods is considering acquiring products falling into dental care, home care, and personal care categories. These categories contribute a significant portion to Patanjali Ayurved’s total turnover.
Patanjali Ayurved, led by Baba Ramdev, is a prominent player in the non-food sector, offering products such as Dant Kanti and Kesh Kanti, which are popular among consumers. The acquisition of these brands would strengthen Patanjali Foods’ position in the FMCG market.
The move comes as part of Patanjali Foods’ strategy to expand its product offerings and enhance its revenue and earnings. The company has previously acquired the biscuits, noodles, breakfast cereals, and food businesses from Patanjali Ayurved.
Patanjali Foods’ board has authorized officials to conduct due diligence, negotiate terms, and report their findings to the board for further consideration. The acquisition, if completed, would be subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
