Following the Supreme Court’s dissatisfaction with the size of Patanjali Ayurved’s initial public apology, the company has issued a second, more prominent apology in newspapers. The apology, signed by Yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali’s managing director Acharya Balkrishna, acknowledges non-compliance with the court’s directions and expresses unconditional regret. It also pledges to abide by the court’s orders and refrain from future violations. This revised apology comes after the court had directed Patanjali to provide the actual size of its advertisements, questioning whether they were sufficiently visible. Patanjali’s initial apology had been deemed insufficient, prompting the court to issue a contempt notice against Ramdev and Balkrishna for flouting their undertaking to refrain from making misleading statements. The company’s repeated failure to comply highlights the importance of adhering to court orders and the consequences of violating them.
