Pelosi Claims Biden’s Campaign Was Not on ‘Path to Victory’, Doubts Its Chances Against Trump

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has revealed her doubts about President Biden’s chances in the 2024 election, stating she didn’t believe his campaign was on a path to victory against former President Trump. This revelation comes after Biden’s decision to drop out of the presidential race last month, a decision he attributed to pressure from Democratic colleagues, including Pelosi.

While Biden has since endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to run in his place, Pelosi continues to emphasize the importance of a strong campaign for success. During an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Pelosi explained her view on the campaign’s prospects. “I wanted the decision to be a better campaign so that we could win. I did not think we were on a path to victory,” she said, adding, “He made his decision that that would be accomplished by him stepping aside.”

Pelosi’s comments underscore the internal challenges within the Democratic Party as they navigate the upcoming election. She has consistently maintained that Biden’s legacy is paramount, emphasizing the need to win the election to sustain his achievements. However, her assessment of the campaign’s weaknesses raises concerns about the party’s ability to secure a victory.

Following Biden’s withdrawal, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Harris has since secured the Democratic Party’s nomination, selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. The upcoming election will now see a battle between Harris and Walz against the Republican Party’s nominee, setting the stage for a politically charged race with high stakes for both parties.
