The NFL Draft is fast approaching, and the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to make a splash with their first-round pick. According to the latest mock draft from A to Z Sports, the Eagles will select offensive tackle Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma with the 22nd overall pick.
Guyton is a highly-rated prospect who has drawn comparisons to current Eagles tackle Lane Johnson. He has great athleticism, including elite speed and agility, and is known for his versatility. While he may not start right away, Guyton would have the opportunity to learn from Johnson, who has already offered his mentorship.
The Eagles have a need for an offensive tackle, as Johnson is entering the final year of his contract and turns 34 in May. Guyton could step into a starting role in the future and help solidify the Eagles’ offensive line for years to come.
This pick would also make sense given the Eagles’ history of drafting offensive linemen early. In recent years, they have selected Andre Dillard, Jordan Mailata, and Landon Dickerson in the first round. Drafting Guyton would continue that trend and give the Eagles one of the best offensive lines in the league.
Of course, the Eagles have other needs, including in the secondary. However, they could still address those needs with their second-round pick. Drafting Guyton in the first round would give them the best of both worlds – a talented player who can contribute immediately and help build for the future.
