Philips Introduces Smart Deadbolt with Built-In Wi-Fi for Enhanced Home Security
Philips has officially launched its first smart deadbolt equipped with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to control their front door remotely. The Philips Smart Deadbolt with Built-In Wi-Fi simplifies setup by eliminating the need for a secondary bridge. Users can easily connect the lock to the Philips Home Access App via Wi-Fi, making installation a hassle-free process.
The smart lock’s retrofit design enables seamless integration with existing hardware. It effortlessly fits over most deadbolts, avoiding the necessity of replacing door components or distributing new keys. The exterior of the front door remains largely unchanged, while the lock provides advanced features such as voice command compatibility, auto-unlock capabilities, door position sensing, and remote access through the mobile app.
Philips provides a wireless keypad alongside the smart lock. This keypad, positioned near the front door, allows for quick entry using passcodes or fingerprint scans. Guests can conveniently access the home without downloading an app or receiving a physical key by simply entering a passcode. The Philips smart lock seamlessly integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant, offering voice command functionality for added convenience. However, it currently does not support Matter or Apple Home.
Despite these minor compatibility limitations, the Philips Smart Deadbolt with Built-In Wi-Fi emerges as a compelling retrofit smart lock solution. Its ease of installation, comprehensive features, and affordable launch price of $130 make it an attractive option for those seeking enhanced home security. The retrofit smart lock market has limited offerings, but the Philips Smart Deadbolt stands out as a budget-friendly and feature-rich option compared to its more expensive competitors.
