Phillies Extend Winning Streak to Seven Games with 7-0 Shutout of Reds

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suárez continued his impressive performance on Monday night, leading his team to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Suárez, who has now won his last four starts, allowed just two hits in seven innings of work. He struck out five batters and walked one, extending his scoreless innings streak to 22.

The Phillies’ offense provided Suárez with plenty of support, scoring runs on sacrifice flies in the second and third innings. They added another run in the fourth on a groundout, and Kyle Schwarber led off the fifth inning with a walk and came around to score on J.T. Realmuto’s double.

Clemens, who was promoted from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday to play first base in place of the injured Bryce Harper, put the exclamation point on the victory with a three-run homer off Reds reliever Casey Legumina in the ninth inning.

Hunter Greene took the loss for the Reds, allowing four runs on seven hits in seven innings. He struck out seven batters but also walked three.

The Phillies, who have now scored at least seven runs in five straight games, will look to continue their winning streak on Tuesday night when they send left-hander Cristopher Sánchez (1-2, 2.53 ERA) to the mound against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott (1-2, 2.70).
