Photographer Ethan James Green’s latest work, ‘Bombshell,’ takes center stage at the Tribeca-based Kapp Kapp gallery, offering an intimate exploration of the titular concept through a series of striking portraits. The exhibition, accompanied by a limited-edition book published by Baron Books, features Green’s signature black-and-white style, capturing the vulnerability and personal interpretations of his subjects, many of whom were present at the launch event.
The air was thick with excitement as guests, including out-of-town visitors from New York Fashion Week, mingled with downtown locals, creating a vibrant synergy of fashion and art. Green expressed his enthusiasm for the exhibition, especially seeing his work in its printed format, acknowledging the finality and impact it held.
The ‘Bombshell’ exhibition delves into a diverse range of perspectives on femininity, glamour, and sex appeal, with each subject adding their unique interpretation to the overarching theme. Actress, model, and longtime friend of Green, Hari Nef, is captured in a captivating portrait, her gaze directed down at a cigarette in a dark up-do and delicate earrings.
Interview’s Fashion Director Dara Allen, known for her distinctive style, presents a playful and experimental image, her pose and arm movements set against a Parisian backdrop. Sporting a vintage Yankees jersey, corset, ripped fishnets, and a vibrant yellow pixie cut, Allen describes the experience as intensely personal and intimate, allowing her and Green to explore their wildest fantasies.
The launch event extended into an intimate afterparty at Green’s studio, where guests continued to mingle, celebrate, and discuss the latest additions to his extensive body of work. Among the attendees were fellow photographer and previous Kapp Kapp exhibitor Emilio Tamez, as well as fashion commentator Lyas, who traveled from Paris for the festivities.
