Pinch: A Review of Tesco’s New Indian Fusion Food Range

There’s nothing quite like indulging in one of the nation’s favorite cuisines, and Pinch, a new food brand specializing in exciting Indian dishes, is bringing those flavors right to your kitchen. Pinch has just launched its range in Tesco, offering a tempting alternative to restaurant meals without the hefty price tag. Their dishes are inspired by modern Indian fusion and street food, ensuring a delicious and authentic experience.

I had the opportunity to sample some of the new offerings, and while some were hits, others fell short of expectations. The Pinch range includes options like Sensational Saag Paneer & Coconut Basmati Rice, Rich Railway Lamb Curry & Coconut Basmati Rice, and Flavour Flamin’ Overloaded Chicken Tikka Naan. For a snack or side, there’s Magic Masala Spiced Chips & Pink Velvet Dip, Pinch Bombaylicious Potato Bombs, Pinch Sizzle & Spice Chicken Tikka & Bombay Potatoes, and Pinch Spiced Sweet Potato & Creamy Coconut Samosas.

The microwave meals are a convenient option for a quick lunchtime or dinner, and the curries are priced at a reasonable £4.50 each. The Rich Railway Lamb Curry & Coconut Basmati Rice impressed with its depth of flavor, tender lamb, and the sweetness of the coconut rice. However, the Flavour Flamin’ Overloaded Chicken Tikka Naan left me slightly disappointed, lacking the anticipated punch of flavor.

The real star of the show was the Magic Masala Spiced Chips & Pink Velvet Dip. This playful take on potato chips delivered a delightful spicy kick that satisfied my cravings. For those looking for a more substantial snack, the Kickin’ Fried Chicken & Pink Velvet Dip, priced at £3.75, was a hit. The chicken was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to tantalize the taste buds.

While some of the side dishes lacked the depth of flavor associated with traditional Indian cuisine, the overall range offers a convenient and diverse selection for those looking for a taste of India in their own home. The Pinch brand presents a promising start, and with some tweaks to the flavor profiles, could become a go-to option for quick and satisfying meals.
