Pixel 9 Pro XL Leaked Video: First Look at the New XL Model

A new leak about the upcoming Google Pixel 9 lineup has surfaced in the form of a YouTube video showcasing the Pixel 8 Pro alongside the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The video, published by Pixophone, doesn’t unveil any groundbreaking information about the Pixel 9 Pro XL that we didn’t already know, but it’s still exciting to see the two handsets side-by-side for the first time on video.

As the video reveals, both phones share a similar matte finish on the back and appear very close in size. However, subtle distinctions emerge. The Pixel 9 Pro XL boasts a flat frame, unlike the curved edges of the Pixel 8 Pro. The camera setups also diverge; the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s camera bar doesn’t extend to the edges and adopts a more oval shape. Despite these differences, both phones retain rounded corners.

The official unveiling of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, along with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th, at a Made by Google event. This marks the return of the XL variant, the first since 2019, with the Pixel 9 Pro XL anticipated to feature a 6.5-inch display compared to the Pixel 9 Pro’s 6.1-inch display.

Beyond these design alterations, the two Pro phones are expected to share similar features. Both are likely to incorporate primary, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras and heavily integrate Google’s Gemini AI tools. Recent rumors suggest that the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and potentially the Pixel 9 Pro, will boast a substantial 16GB of RAM, a milestone for Pixel phones, surpassing the previous 12GB limit.

In recent days, Google has released teaser videos for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but official footage of the standard Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL remains elusive. Perhaps Google will soon share a glimpse of these models to further fuel anticipation for the upcoming launch.
