Timed-Entry Reservations Now Required for Popular National Parks
In an effort to manage visitation and protect sensitive ecosystems, several popular national parks across the United States are implementing timed-entry reservation systems in 2024. Visitors planning to visit these parks during peak season are strongly advised to secure tickets in advance to avoid being denied entry upon arrival.
The timed-entry system is designed to spread visitation more evenly throughout the day and reduce long lines and traffic congestion. However, it’s important to note that the extra step can pose a challenge for travelers with inflexible itineraries. Park officials emphasize that the reservations are not intended to limit visitation but rather to enhance the experience for all visitors.
