Grand Theft Auto 5, released in 2013, never received any story DLC due to the increasing focus on Grand Theft Auto Online. However, it has now been revealed that a planned ‘Agent Trevor’ DLC was in development and partially shot before being canceled.
Voice actor Steve Ogg, who voiced Trevor, confirmed in a recent Q&A stream that he had recorded lines for the DLC. He described the premise, saying that Trevor would have gone undercover working for the federal government. Ogg also mentioned that they had shot some footage for the DLC before it was abruptly halted.
Dataminers had previously discovered references to the ‘Agent Trevor’ DLC in the game files of GTA 5 back in 2015. These references also hinted at other planned DLC content, such as a zombie-apocalypse-themed DLC and an alien invasion. The game files also pointed to a casino heist that would have involved all of GTA V’s playable characters.
It seems that the ‘Agent Trevor’ DLC had progressed the furthest in development, as evidenced by the fact that Ogg had already recorded lines for it. According to the GTA Wiki, the game files referred to 23 missions with 34 separate mission triggers, as well as 12 separate assassination missions. However, much of the developed content was eventually repurposed for GTA Online’s Doomsday Heist.
In the livestream, Ogg expressed disappointment that the ‘Agent Trevor’ DLC was never completed. He said that he thought it would have been cool to explore a different storyline with Trevor’s character. The cancellation of the DLC remains a mystery, but it is clear that it was a significant project that had the potential to significantly expand the game’s narrative.
