Are you the go-to friend for movie and show recommendations? Do your opinions consistently lead people to hidden gems that others miss? If so, Plex wants you! They’ve launched a new feature called user reviews, building upon their Discover Together platform which connects friends and family through shared media experiences.
With user reviews, any registered Plex account can now write a review for any Movie, Show, Season, or Episode. These reviews are currently visible only to your Plex friends, but future updates will allow sharing with the entire Plex community. In fact, Plex is looking for beta testers to become the first to share their opinions publicly, so if you’re ready to be a tastemaker for the masses, sign up here.
You can flag your reviews as containing spoilers to be considerate of fellow viewers. Reviews can be written for anything in your personal Plex library, but there are a few prerequisites:
* Reviews can be created from Plex Web and Mobile apps, but will be visible on all clients.
* Only media items matched with the Plex Movie or Plex Series modern agents from a Plex Media Server library can be reviewed.
* You’ll need to enable the Sync Watch State & Ratings feature.
* You’ll need a verified email to write reviews.
* Reviews must adhere to Plex’s community guidelines.
Once written, your reviews will be accessible in several places throughout the Plex experience, including detail, profile, and activity feed screens. However, as a viewer, you have control over which reviews you see: choose from Plex users & critics, Plex users only, critics only, or no reviews. As the author, you can choose who sees each review, and after publication, you’ll be able to edit or delete it.
So, are you ready to share your expert opinions and guide your friends (and potentially the world) to the best movies and shows? Dive into Plex user reviews and start recommending today!
