Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Congress party of reducing the quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Karnataka by including Muslim castes in the same category. He claimed that Congress plans to replicate this model across the country. Addressing an election rally in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on April 24, Modi labeled Congress as the “biggest enemy of the OBCs.” He alleged that the party had previously provided reservation based on religion, which is prohibited by the Indian Constitution. Modi claimed that Congress has again provided reservation on the basis of religion in Karnataka by including all Muslim castes with the OBCs, depriving the OBC community of a significant portion of their quota. He accused Congress of playing a “dangerous game” that will harm future generations and labeled the party as the “biggest enemy of the OBCs.” Modi further alleged that in 2004, Congress provided reservation on the basis of religion, undermining Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. He said that the party is adopting various tactics to fulfill this resolution and has resorted to an illegal trick in Karnataka by adding all Muslim castes to the OBC quota. The Prime Minister claimed that Congress wants to implement the same model in the entire country. He denounced Congress for its alleged plans to impose inheritance tax on ancestral wealth. Modi also criticized the Congress’s rule in Madhya Pradesh, claiming that it was known as a “Bimaru” (ailing/backward) state under their governance, and development only began when the BJP came to power.
