PM Modi Attacks Congress, Vows Strong Government

On May 4, during his second day of campaigning in Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a veiled attack on the Congress party and its leaders while addressing a public meeting in Palamu. Modi asserted that a strong nation requires a strong leader, unlike the Congress party, which, according to him, used to plead with other countries when Pakistan attacked India.

Modi praised his government’s anti-terrorism efforts, stating that after taking over as Prime Minister, he took a firm stance against terrorism and launched the surgical strike against Pakistan, which sent shockwaves through the neighboring country. He alleged that the leaders of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and its alliance partner, the Congress party, had amassed wealth through corruption. Modi claimed that these leaders were only interested in acquiring property and wealth for their families.

Without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Modi criticized him, saying that the Congress prince found joy in Modi’s tears. Modi emphasized the significance of each vote, recalling how, in 2014, a single vote had significantly altered India’s political landscape. He highlighted the BJP-NDA government’s achievements, including the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the successful fight against Naxalism and terrorism in several states.

Modi highlighted his 25 years of service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, stating that he had never been accused of corruption. He asserted that he remained committed to serving the people, unlike the Congress leaders who allegedly sought personal gains. Modi emphasized that his government had lifted 25 crore people out of poverty during his 10 years in power. He also vowed to address another rally in Gumla later in the day.
