Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, raised concerns about the intentions of the Congress party and the opposition-led INDIA bloc regarding property redistribution. He claimed that the Congress manifesto proposed an investigation into individuals’ earnings and property ownership, with the potential for government seizure and redistribution.
Modi accused the Congress of targeting women’s property, stating that they planned to change the law and seize gold and assets belonging to mothers and daughters. He emphasized that such property is considered sacred and protected by law.
Modi refrained from explicitly stating that the redistributed wealth would benefit Muslims, unlike his previous remarks in Rajasthan. He also omitted mention of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement regarding Muslims’ first claim on national resources.
Instead, Modi criticized the Congress and the Samajwadi Party for practicing appeasement without addressing the social and economic progress of Muslims. He claimed that their policies had led to harm for Muslim women and that his government had taken steps to secure their future by implementing laws against triple talaq.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come after his controversial statements in Banswara, Rajasthan, which sparked a political controversy. Congress leaders have met with the Election Commission of India to demand action against Modi, accusing him of violating the model code of conduct and targeting the Constitution.
