Addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress party of attempting to appease America. He claimed that Urban Naxals, radical left-wing groups, had gained significant influence within the party.
Modi alleged that Congress was prioritizing the interests of America over those of India. He cited the party’s support for the Urban Naxals and its opposition to laws aimed at combating terrorism as evidence of this appeasement.
The Prime Minister also criticized remarks made by Sam Pitroda, chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, advocating for an ‘inheritance tax’ like law. Modi claimed that this proposal was an attempt to punish the middle class and prevent Indians from passing on their property to their children.
Modi further alleged that the Congress party’s manifesto sought to introduce reservations based on religion. He accused the party of disregarding the Constitution and the principles of equality enshrined in it.
The Prime Minister’s attack on the Congress party comes ahead of the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which will be held on April 26. Modi is seeking a second term in office, while the Congress party is aiming to return to power after a decade in opposition.
The Congress party has not yet responded to Modi’s allegations.
