PM Modi Slams Congress for Blaming EVMs, Accuses Them of Seeking New Excuses

In a public address in Davangere on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lambasted the Congress party for their persistent accusations against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Modi pointed out that the Supreme Court’s recent ruling upholding the use of EVMs has effectively dismissed the Congress’s complaints. He asserted that the Congress has consistently blamed EVMs for their electoral losses, even resorting to chanting slogans about them throughout elections. However, with the Supreme Court’s verdict, they have been silenced on this issue.

Modi further accused the Congress of using EVMs as a morale booster for their party workers. He stated that now, with the court’s ruling, the Congress is frantically searching for a new excuse to justify their impending defeat in the 2024 elections.

Shifting his focus to the Congress government in Karnataka, Modi criticized its performance, contrasting it with the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s achievements. He alleged that the Congress is determined to undermine the country’s unity and hinder development. He praised the work of former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, accusing the current Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of undoing their progress.

Modi also expressed concern over the Congress-led INDI Alliance’s reported formula for sharing power on a rotation basis, including the Prime Ministerial position. He questioned the stability and future of the country under such an arrangement. Modi urged voters not to waste their votes on the INDI Alliance, stating that it would lead to political instability.

BJP candidates Gayathri Siddeshwar and Basavaraj Bommai, who are contesting the Davangere and Haveri constituencies, respectively, were among those who shared the stage with the Prime Minister during the event.
