Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be making a significant appearance in Jammu on Saturday, September 28th, amidst the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. His visit marks a pivotal moment in the election process, as it coincides with the final leg of voting.
According to a social media post by the BJP Jammu & Kashmir, PM Modi is scheduled to deliver a powerful address at the Vijay Sankalp Maharally, held at the MA Stadium at 10 am. This rally is expected to energize BJP supporters and garner further momentum for the party in the elections.
This election cycle holds immense historical significance as Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing its first assembly elections in a decade, following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. The voting process, which commenced on September 25th, is set to conclude on October 1st. The results of the election will be announced after the vote count on October 8th.
In anticipation of PM Modi’s visit, heightened security measures have been implemented in Jammu. Surveillance has been intensified with the installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of security personnel. This underscores the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment for the Prime Minister and the public during his visit.
PM Modi’s visit comes shortly after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s scheduled trip to Gurez and Karnah on September 29th, as reported by local media. The government’s active involvement in the region during the elections is a testament to its commitment to the democratic process and the well-being of Jammu and Kashmir.
On Friday, BJP National President JP Nadda addressed a rally in Jammu, where he commended the successful completion of the first two phases of the Assembly polls. Notably, he highlighted the peaceful and high voter turnout, particularly in the valley of Srinagar, which saw a 60% turnout – a significant increase from the previous 8-10%.
Nadda attributed this positive trend to the improved security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, praising PM Modi’s efforts in bringing about a sea change in the region. He emphasized the absence of fear and terror, stating that people were voting fearlessly, and the overall turnout in the first two phases was an impressive 58-60%.
He contrasted this with the past, when instances of gunfire during DDC and Panchayat elections were commonplace under the National Conference and Congress regimes. Nadda credited the BJP government with successfully conducting local elections and providing opportunities for youth representation. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of PM Modi, Jammu and Kashmir would continue to progress and flourish in all sectors.
