PM Modi’s Visit to Srinagar: Security Tightened, Development Projects in Focus

Jammu and Kashmir Police have implemented heightened security measures in Srinagar ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit commencing on Thursday. A multi-tier security blanket has been established, with the city declared a ‘Temporary Red Zone’ for drone operations. This measure aims to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister and attendees during his visit.

PM Modi’s itinerary includes a participation in the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on Thursday evening. The visit will also witness the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for numerous developmental projects valued at over Rs. 1,500 crore. These projects encompass road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and improvements to higher education facilities. Notably, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section improvement project, industrial estate development, and the construction of six Government Degree Colleges.

Furthermore, PM Modi will launch the ₹ 1,800 crore Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project, which will be implemented across 90 Blocks in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. This project is anticipated to benefit 300,000 households, reaching 15 lakh individuals. The Prime Minister’s visit will culminate on Friday, June 21st, with his participation in the 10th International Day of Yoga event at SKICC in Srinagar. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ highlighting the dual benefits of yoga in promoting individual and societal well-being. An estimated 3,000-4,000 individuals are expected to attend the event at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) situated along the scenic Boulevard road.
