Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been subjected to online abuse, including racism, following his missed chances in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out against the behavior, urging Jackson to ignore social media negativity.
Pochettino acknowledged the prevalence of abuse on social media, but emphasized that it should not be taken as a reflection of people’s true feelings. He praised Jackson’s performance in his first season, particularly given the limited experience he had before joining Chelsea.
Jackson remains the club’s second-highest goalscorer with 13 goals in all competitions, despite missing several key chances in the FA Cup semi-final. Pochettino expressed his trust in Jackson and believes he will continue to improve and become even more effective next season.
The Blues will face Arsenal in the Premier League on Tuesday, and Pochettino hopes to have Cole Palmer available despite a recent illness. If Palmer is unable to play, Jackson is expected to start and will be looking to prove his worth once again.
